You know the old saying - Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It wakes your metabolism up and tells your digestive system that it's time to get going. It also will help to offset the calories that you may try to overconsume by the time dinner comes along.
But what is in YOUR breakast? Hopefully, you've outgrown the candied cereals marketed to children. And honestly, have you googled how many calories are in that bagel or donut of yours? You do realize that a muffin is basically a dense cupcake without icing, right? Yogurt and oatmeal are awesome, but are you having the pre-sugared kind? Check the ingredients -- understand what you are eating so you can make an educated decision on whether or not it is of benefit to you.
I did a couple of detoxes last year and was introduced to the idea of fresh smoothies in the morning. It's a great serving of fresh fruits and veggies. Since it's not processed, it's super easy for my body to break down and digest -- giving me some really good energy for the morning (DSG ladies, this became part of my pre-run routine last season if you wondered how I got faster).
If you go to Kris Carr's Crazy Sexy Life site, you'll be able to find a ton of juiced or smoothie recipes, but these are a couple of my favorite: Peach Almond Smoothie or Veggie Smoothie
Oh, and for the skeptics who may give it a try, the TRICK is that if something doesn't taste yummy enough...just add a bit more fruit to sweeten it up.
