Week one...ughhhh...I thank Barb for showing up for the Bonus Run on Sunday because it got me out for a forced run. I say forced because it's SO hard to lace up the sneaks, put on a warm jacket, and get my butt out the door right now. Once I'm out there though...*sigh*...I love it. I try to remember this feeling so that when I return the next day to the moment of "Do I really want to go outside?" -- maybe, just maybe...I'll go.
This brings me to the point of having a work out partner (or better yet partners!). It's the pressure of having someone waiting for you to show up and calling you out for NOT showing up. Having a partner that you know is expecting for you to motivate him/her will help to keep you from making lame excuses (like, but GLEE is on!).
With my triathlete program officially starting yesterday, I realized that there was still little motivation to get me to the pool (my biggest hurdle). I have a friend who used to be a competitive swimmer but has been having a hard time motivating herself out to the pool as well. Last night, I asked her if she would be interested in meeting up with me on a regular schedule. Well now, I've got a swim date for tomorrow night. A win-win deal for both of us. It's a social occasion when we'll also get some exercise. My favorite deal.
I know the teams of Kong & Linh and Alison/Janet/Ursula are also meeting up for regular workouts together.
So, if you are having a hard time getting starting with your routine, think about who you may get to meet up with you and make it a social visit while you are at it.
